The White House and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was met with another allegation on Sunday. This sexual allegation, right off the back of the claims made by Christine Blasey Ford, was by a woman also accusing him of inappropriate sexual behaviour.
In a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee’s chairman, California Senator Dianne Feinstein has called for a postponement of Kavanaugh’s confirmation proceedings.
In a statement, Kavanaugh said, “This alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen. The people who knew me then know that this did not happen, and have said so. This is a smear, plain and simple. I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth, and defending my good name — and the reputation for character and integrity I have spent a lifetime building — against these last-minute allegations.”
And in another statement, supporting Brett Kavanaugh, Kerri Kupec, White House spokesperson said, “This 35-year-old, uncorroborated claim is the latest in a coordinated smear campaign by the Democrats designed to tear down a good man. This claim is denied by all who were said to be present and is wholly inconsistent with what many women and men who knew Judge Kavanaugh at the time in college say. The White House stands firmly behind Judge Kavanaugh.”
This woman, Deborah Ramirez, with the second allegation, said she remembers Kavanaugh exposing himselg to her at a dormitory party.
Much as a good handful of people have spoken in favour of Brett Kavanaugh, it doesn’t help his course that many others have either claimed not to remember or attend the party at all. And one damning statement from Ramirez’s classmate – a man who declined to be identified – insists he is absolutely sure that either on the night of the party or in the next day or two, he was told Kavanaugh was the student who exposed himself to Ramirez.
