According to the Bayelsa-born musician he disregarded the term “legend” because he believes it is primarily for musicians that have been able to create major hits and must have sold insurmountable amount of albums both home and abroad before they could be referred to as legends.
Timaya described 2 face as the only musician from this generation that can be referred to as a “legend.” Although Timaya refused the tag, he believed that the former Plantashun boys member is the only current singer that have created a legacy worth emulating, he said
“In this part of the world, many artistes when they get to 10 years, they start shouting ‘I’m a legend’, ‘legendary’. To me, in this industry, the only person that can call himself a legend is 2face. The others shouldn’t. Even if people call me a legend, I don’t like to be seen like that.”
He however described himself as the hitmaker in the industry at the moment. He currently released a banger known as “bam bam” which features Olamide. Timaya has released six studio albums and has dropped multiple hit singles including “dem mama” and “Ukwu.”
