2019: APC Clear Sen. Akpabio, Tinubu, Shehu Sani, Others Unopposed
The All Progressive Congress (APC) has cleared Senators Godswill Akpabio  Oluremi Tinubu, Shehu Sani, Gbenga Ashafa and Solomon Olamilekan without any opponent for the primary.
The party also disqualified all opponents for the Kaduna Central Senatorial district giving Sani a smooth sail.
In a statement issued by the spokesman of the ruling party, Yekini Nabena on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, the party’s National Working Committee also cleared 35 incumbent Senators.
A surprise exclusion from the list released by the party is Bukar Abba Ibrahim, a former governor of Yobe State and the Senator who was caught in a scandalous video back in 2017. In his place is not the incumbent governor of state, Ibrahim Geidam who is from the same Senatorial with Ibrahim.
The incumbent Senators cleared are, Senators Akpabio (Akwa-Ibom North West), Effiong Nelson (Akwa-Ibom South, Ovie Omo-Agege (Delta Central), Francis Alimikhena (Edo North), Shehu Sani (Kaduna Central), Barau Jibrin (Kano North), Kabiru Gaya (Kano South), Tijani Kaura (Zamfara North), George Akume (Benue North West), Sabi Abdullahi (Niger North), Abdullahi Adamu (Nassarawa West), Binta Garba (Adamawa North),
Others are Umaru Kurfi (Katsina Central), Muhammed Aliero (Kebbi Central), Ibn Na’Allah (Kebbi South), Sabo Mohammed (Jigawa, South), Abdullahi Gumel (Jigawa West), Ibrahim Gobir (Sokoto East), Aliyu Wammako (Sokoto Central), Andy Uba (Anambra South), Uwajumogu Benjamin (Imo North), Raji-Rasaki Fatima (Ekiti Central).
More Senators on the list are Ajayi Borrofice (Ondo North), Yele Omogunwa (Ondo South), Omotayo Alasoadura (Ondo Central), Lanre Tejuosho (Ogun Central), Oluremi Tinubu (Lagos Central), Solomon Adeola (Lagos West), Gbenga Ashafa (Lagos East), Buhari Abdulfatai (Oyo North), Yusuf Yusuf (Taraba Central), Ali Ndume (Borno South), Abubakar Kyari (Borno North), Goje Danjuma (Gombe Central) and Ahmed Lawan (Yobe North).
