2019: APC Govs Meet Buhari, Protest Rancorous Primaries
Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday met with President Muhammadu Buhari over the party’s rancorous primaries in different parts of the country. It was learnt that the governors who were at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, protested against the handling of the primaries by the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee of the APC. The complaints of the governors ranged from alleged injustice in the governorship primaries to the omission of their loyalists from the list of the party’s senatorial aspirants.
Presidential Primaries: Again, PDP To Meet Saraki, Atiku, Tambuwal, Others
All organs of the People’s Democratic Party will, on Friday, meet with its presidential aspirants and key stakeholders to deliberate on a wide range of issues, particularly the conduct of the convention. National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday. The aspirants are a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo; a former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso; a former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa.
APC Primaries: Bindow’s Agents Allege Circulation Of Fake Membership Cards
Ahead of Adamawa rescheduled governorship primaries for All Progressives Congress, Governor Muhammadu Bindow Campaign Organisation has raised alarm over “circulation of fake membership cards.” Spokesman of the organisation, Mr. Saleh Kinjir, who raised the alarm Thursday in a press briefing in Yola, said the attention of the organization had been drawn to such fake cards in circulation in the state.It also alleged that some people had met, designed and produced what they claimed to be result from fake elections conducted.
APC Primary: Epe Erupts In Riot As Hoodlums Allegedly Shoot Man
Some houses and vehicles were burnt in Epe, Lagos east, on Thursday as political violence erupted following the killing of a supporter of one of the aspirants contesting to represent the All Progressives Congress in the House of Representatives election next year. The person killed was identified as Idris Alooma, said to be 30 years old. He was allegedly shot by hoodlums who attacked a polling unit in Ward 4, after voting had taken place and party members were awaiting the declaration of the result.
NNPC Gets $416m From Oil, Gas Exports
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) yesterday said the country’s crude oil and gas export sales for June 2018 was $416.07 million, up by 35.78 per cent over the corresponding month of last year. Details of the June 2018 edition of the monthly NNPC Financial and Operations Report showed that crude oil exports contributed $274.95 million, translating to 66.08 per cent of the dollar transactions compared with the $244.72 million contribution of the previous month. Similarly, the document said exported gas raked in at 141.12 million.
NSE: Investors Move 151.346m Shares Worth N1.51bn
A total of 151.346 million shares valued at N1.51 billion were traded in 2,356 deals on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday. This was against the 136.731 million shares worth N1.43 billion traded in 2,801 deals on Wednesday, representing 10.69 per cent increase in volume respectively. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the market capitalisation depreciated by N11 billion or 0.09 per cent to close at N11.837 trillion from N11.848 trillion recorded on Wednesday.
UNICEF, Bauchi Govt To Fight Infant Mortality Rate… 11,455 Deaths Of Newborns Every Year In The State
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Bauchi State Government have expressed their commitment in reducing the infant mortality rate in the state. Mr Bahnu Pathak, UNICEF Nigeria, Bauchi Field Office Chief stated this at during a two day stakeholders engagement meeting for situation analysis on infant heath in Bauchi on Thursday. He said Unicef and Bauchi state with the support of European Union (EU) reaffirmed their commitment to tackle the infant death in the state.
Okpala, Abdallah Still Hopeful Of Enyimba’s Survival Despite Home Loss
Former Super Eagles Assistant Coach, Sylvanus Okpala and Enyimba Coach, Usman Abdallah believe the Aba side can still beat Raja Casablanca to the ticket to final of the CAF Confederation Cup despite their 0-1 home loss to the Moroccan team. WTO Chief Has Never Talked To Trump, But Agrees Trade Reforms Needed
