President Muhammadu Buhari has told his party members that he will soon bring all speculations to an end by naming a Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) to lead the All Progressives Congress, APC, to victory in the February 2019 general elections. This is as he has described his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC as the party that will free Nigeria from corruption and poor governance.

The winner of the Lagos All Progressives Congress primary, Mr.Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that he will not take the Nationa Leaders of the party Asiwaju Bola Tinubu fatherly role for granted. Buhari Calls Leah Shaibu’s Mother, Promises To Bring Back Her Daughter

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to bring back the abducted Dapchi secondary school girl, Leah Shaibu. The mother of kidnapped 15-year-old Rebecca Sharibu had pleaded with Federal Government to ensure her daughter’s release, as the Boko Haram captors have issued a threat that Leah would be killed by the second week of October if the government does not meet their demands.

2019: Tambuwal Meets With Obasanjo

Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state on Wednesday night held a closed- door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his Abeokuta residence. Aminu who addressed journalists after the meeting which lasted for about 50 minutes and ended few minutes to 9.p.m said he was in Abeokuta to consult with Obasanjo in respect of the 2019 polls. “Obasanjo is one of the critical leaders of the country and it is necessary for me to consult with him concerning the 2019 polls, particularly on my aspiration to contest for the presidency of Nigeria.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, has vowed to resign his appointment if the Supreme Court finds the Independent National Electoral Commission guilty in the conduct of the recently concluded governorship election in the state. Agbaje said this in his speech in Osogbo on Wednesday during the presentation of Certificate of Return to the Osun State governor-elect, Gboyega Oyetola, of the All Progressives Congress.

Gunmen on Wednesday invaded the venue of the Anambra South senatorial primary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance at the Township Stadium, Ekwulobia, in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. The gunmen had scared away delegates and disrupted the primary. It was gathered that a certain disgruntled senatorial aspirant mobilised the hoodlums to the venue of the primary, with the intent to disrupt the exercise.

Ogun APC Defies NWC Panel, Declares Amosun’s Candidate Winner

The Ogun State All Progressives Congress Chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi, has declared the party’s consensus candidate, Adekunle Akinkade, winner of a parallel primary conducted on Tuesday. The party chairman declared Akinlade winner while addressing journalists at the secretariat of the party  in Abeokuta on Wednesday. He said Akinlade, the consensus candidate of the Yewa Elders Council and the anointed candidate of the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, polled 190, 987 votes out of 201, 620 valid votes cast across the 236 wards in the state.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, Wednesday called for the arrest and prosecution of Ahmed Gulak over his “ignoble” role in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship that led to the cancellation of the exercise. Gulak was the Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee for Imo State but absconded after he rescheduled the primary which could not hold on the slated date, only to declare one of the governorship aspirants, Senator Hope Uzodinma as winner.

Hajiya Khadija Ibrahim, minister of state foreign Affairs, has defeated her step son Mohammed Ibrahim to clinch the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Damaturu/Gulani/Gujba/Tarmuwa, Yobe federal constituency. Prof Abba Gambo, the returning officer of the election which ran into the night announced on Wednesday that Khadijah polled 1,295 votes to defeat Mohammed who scored only 15 votes.

ASUU Accuses Babalakin Of Sabotaging Talks With FG

The Kano Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Wednesday accused the chairman of the Federal Government Renegotiating Team, Dr. Wale Babalakin of masterminding the collapse of the 2017-2018 renegotiation between ASUU and the Federal Government. During a Press Conference at Bayero University Kano (BUK) ASUU secretariat, ASUU Zonal Coordinator, Mahmud Muhammad Lawan alleged that Dr.  Babalakin disregarded the cardinal principles of collective bargaining between ASUU and Federal Government.

3 APC Delegates Die In Nasarawa

No fewer than three delegates reportedly died in a ghastly motor accident in Keana Local government area of Nasarawa State shortly after the just concluded All Progressive Congress governorship primary election in the state. The victims were supposed to meet with Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in Obi LGA, in preparation for his senatorial ambition on Tuesday, but the meeting could not hold as a result of the accident. The driver of the vehicle conveying the delegates reportedly lost control when one of the rear tyres came off in Deddare area of Obi LGA.

 NSE All-Share Index Falls 0.79% on Lingering Negative Sentiments

The Nigeria bourse remained on the downbeat as negative sentiments lingers. At the close of trading Wednesday, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All-Share Index shed 0.79 per cent to close lower 32,454.03. Similarly, market capitalisation lost N94.1 billion to close at N11.9 trillion. Although 15 stocks appreciated, compared with 14 that depreciated, the presence of bellwethers such as Dangote Cement Plc, Nigerian Breweries Plc and FBN Holdings Plc among others led to the negative close.
