2019: Opposition Parties Kick As Buhari Gets Attestation Of Result From WAEC
Opposition political parties under the aegis of the Coalition of United Political Parties have described as suspicious the Friday’s presentation of the attestation of result to President Muhammadu Buhari by the West African Examinations Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The CUPP, which comprises about 42 political parties including the People’s Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress, alleged that there were indications that the result was hurriedly released to stall the commencement of the suit seeking to disqualify the President from contesting the 2019 presidential election.

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday, assured that President Muhammadu Buhari would defeat his rival of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar. Speaking to journalists in Abuja, he insisted that there was no way Nigerians would vote for Atiku, instead of Buhari, whose integrity, he said, is known to the electorate, in the race for the Presidency next year, adding: “We will defeat Atiku the way we have defeated him before.”
2019: Oshiomhole Bashes Okorocha, Amosun As APC Submits Governorship List To INEC
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, on Friday lashed out again at the governors of Imo and Ogun states, Rochas Okorocha and Ibukunle Amosun. This came barely 24 hours after the two governors renewed their attacks on the APC chairman. While Okorocha claimed on Thursday that the fortunes of the APC had witnessed a downturn since Oshiomhole took over as national chairman, Amosun alleged that the party chairman and his cohorts were working towards handing over Ogun to “a gang of expansionists.” In an apparent response to the two governors, Oshiomhole described their personal attacks on his person as a direct result of their failure to foist undemocratic processes on the party.
Orji Kalu Hospitalised In Germany For Undisclosed Ailment
A former governor of Abia State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has been hospitalised in Germany. Kalu’s media aide, Kunle Oyewunmi, said in a statement on Friday that the ex-governor flew to Germany last Monday for “a major surgery” to address “an undisclosed and life-threatening ailment.” He was said to have flown aboard a Lufthansa aircraft accompanied by his wife, Ifunanya. Oyewunmi said upon arrival in Germany, Kalu was on Tuesday rushed in an ambulance to Helios Klinik, Wiesbaden, where he was immediately wheeled into the surgical theatre.

Rumours of a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship race in Kaduna State was confirmed on Friday as Governor Nasir el-Rufai announced Dr. Hadiza Abubakar Balarabe as his running mate for the 2019 election. Balarabe, a Muslim, is Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Development Agency, from Sanga Local Government Area in the Christian dominated Southern part of Kaduna State. The incumbent Deputy Governor, Mr. Barnabas Bala, has opted to contest the Southern Kaduna senatorial election in 2019.

Some aggrieved women of Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress have passed a vote of no confidence on the National Working Committee of the party for allegedly promoting nepotism and tyranny in the party. Addressing journalists in Benin on Friday, the women accused the leadership of party, led by its National Chairman and former governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole, of allegedly subverting the aspirations of female party members with impunity.
Over 300 Anglican Priests Protest Against Obiano, Block Govt House Entrance
No fewer than 300 priests of the Diocese of the Niger (Onitsha area) on Friday stormed the Anambra State Government House, accusing Governor Willie Obiano of religious bigotry. The priests, all dressed in their robes, blocked the Government House and vowed not to leave the scene until the governor addressed them. It was gathered that their protest was over alleged seizure of Bishop Crowther Memorial Primary School, Onitsha by the Catholic Church. According to the Anglican priests, the school belongs to them. The Anglicans accused Obiano, who is a Catholic, of aiding his denomination to take over the property.

F-SARS Nabs Most Wanted Imo Kidnappers, Recovers Pistol, Vehicle
There was jubilation in Owerri, the Imo State capital, following reports that the operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the State Police Command had arrested two most wanted armed robbers and kidnappers in the state. The suspects, Chinedu Nwoke, popularly known as Assa, 32, and Uzoma Okafor, 30, were arrested in Owerri on Saturday. A senior police source told our correspondent that the suspects were overpowered at the Control Post axis in Owerri after a gun duel with the F-SARS operatives. The source said, “We have arrested the most wanted kidnappers, armed robbers and murderers in town.
