2019: Saraki mulls presidential bid, promises change (Punch)

The President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, has said that he is considering contesting the 2019 presidential election, adding that he believes he can “make the change.” Saraki, who stated this in an interview with Bloomberg, expressed concerns about the invasion of the National Assembly by operatives of the Department of State Services. Bloomberg quoted the Senate President as saying, “I am consulting and actively considering it  …I believe I can make the change.” Saraki, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress to the People’s Democratic Party, said all Nigerians should be concerned about the invasion of the National Assembly. He stated, “If a government can go and lock up an arm of government -and it’s never happened in our history – we should all be very concerned,” Saraki said. Read more
