Business activities in commercial banks in Ondo town, Ondo State, on Thursday were put to a halt for hours following information that robbers were in the town.
Other firms on Olusegun Mimiko Road, where many banks were located, also hurriedly closed down for business.
The banks, however, resumed operation at about 1pm after they were assured of adequate security by the police.
A security man in one of the banks told our correspondent that the bank manager instructed him to close the gate of the bank at about 8.30am, informing him that robbers were around.
He said, “The manager also called the police and the managers of other banks to inform them about the development.”
