Lagos Island beer parlours angry with Ambode – Toni Kan’t

Sabinews investigations have revealed that owners of beer parlours on the Lagos Island are very very angry with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Their anger stems from a growing lack of patronage since the Ambode administration embarked on the decongestion of the 3rd Mainland bridge bottle neck at Oworonshoki.

Maroof Akanni who runs Akanni’s Place, a beer, paraga and Asun joint in Igbosere was boiling with rage when sabinews encountered him.

“Look at my place, just look, the place is empty and it’s all because of that gaddem Ambode. Before, bankers will come in to take one or two bottles while they wait for traffic to clear but now, once they close they enter their cars and run home. What nonsense is that? Who will eat the Asun that we make?”

Sir Kay, who runs a beer parlour on Berkely street has banned anyone from saying the name Ambode in his shop.

“I cannot vote for that man again. The man is destroying our business. Just look. Since the man started clearing the traffic at Oworo boys don’t stay long on the island again. Who send am? All the other governors saw this traffic and left it. Otedola. Tinubu. Fashola, all of them saw it.  Why must he clear it?  Kini traffic se fun?”

Mama Risi who sells paraga says she is also feeling the pinch.

“Boys no dey come again. Before dem go come dis our side to wait for traffic to clear but now, whosai. A ri won mo. Which kain wahala be dis? Dem say the man go plenty school but e no sabi say traffic na money. I dey wait for am for the next election.”

The sentiments expressed were all the same from Berkely to Moloney, Obalande to Keffi, Nnamdi Azikiwe to Ebinpejo lane, boys are not smiling with Ambode.

It will be recalled that decongestion work at the Oworonshoki end of the 3rd mainland bridge has led to free flow of traffic inward and outward the bridge. But while commuters have been hailing the governor, owners of beer parlours on the island are complaining.
