A 50-year-old man, Okon Michael, has been arrested by the police in Akwa Ibom State for allegedly defiling a two-year-old girl in the state.
Michael, who hails from Mbak Ekpe in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of the state was paraded yesterday along with other suspects who were arrested for various offences ranging from illegal possession of fire arms, Indian hemp, as well as armed robbery.
The state Commissioner of Police, Murtala Mani, said the suspected criminals were arrested at various locations through sustained patrol and intelligence sharing mechanism of the police.
The commissioner who spoke through the command’s Public Relations Officer, Cordelia Nwawe, called on the public to assist the police with information that would enable them carry out their duty. Speaking shortly with journalists at the command headquarters at Ikot-Apkanabia, Michael who confessed to crime, said the he was under the influence of an evil spirit. Read more
