At least 12 civilians were killed by airstrikes in the rebel-held east Aleppo district of Marjeh on Monday, bringing the number killed in 24 hours of bombardment on the battleground city to 45.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that five of the dead were children.
On Sunday, Zouhir al-Shimale, The New Arab’s correspondent in east Aleppo reported that 15 people had been killed following an attack on a market in the Ferdous neighbourhood of east Aleppo.
“Two buildings collapsed,” said al-Shimale, “It is a public market… or it used to be because now it is completely destroyed.”
Airstrikes on rebel-held east Aleppo have intensified since a US-Russian brokered ceasefire collapsed in September resulting in a fresh regime assault on the city. Read more
