An Osun State High Court sitting in Iwo has sentenced two men to death by hanging for armed robbery.
According to a statement made available to our correspondent by the spokesman for the Osun State Ministry of Justice, Opeyemi Bello, the two convicts were sentenced to death by Justice Moshood Adeigbe on Monday. The two men were convicted after the court found them guilty of the two counts of conspiracy and armed robbery the police preferred against them.
The two convicts were arraigned on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and armed robbery, contrary to sections 6(b) and 1(1) and (2), (a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. The court was told that a gang of four armed robbers had in May 2012 invaded the residence of one Mrs. Aladete at Asabi Okin, in the Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State.
