A suspected cult leader, Sanju Agbabiaka, aka 120, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement Unit).
Agbabiaka was apprehended along with 34 other members of the cult, Omije Boys, during the initiation of new members in the Akala, Mushin area of the state.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the task force team also nabbed 87 alleged miscreants said to be perpetrating crimes in the community during a raid on Friday. It was learnt that 10 of the suspected miscreants are females, while 15 are teenagers. A paramilitary officer attached to the agency was allegedly injured with broken bottles during the operation.
One of the cult suspects, 17-year-old Godwin Okpeye, was reported to have stated that he was lured into the group in September 2016.
Okpeye told the agency that his gang was involved in different criminal activities, adding that he was released from the Lagos State Remand Home, Oregun, on February 18, 2017, after he and his friends were arrested during a robbery operation. Read more
