The Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State, Mr. Mohammed Abdulkadir, has confirmed the killing of two mobile policemen by suspected armed robbers at a filling station in Sokoto on Monday.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Abdulkadir said the incident happened at the NNPC Mega Station, Gusua Road, Sokoto.
“The two policemen were on duty when the hoodlums struck at the filling station at around 2am on Monday. “The suspected armed robbers came in a vehicle, overpowered the policemen and killed them. “They made a futile attempt to open the safe of the filling station after killing the officers,” the police commissioner said.
Abdulkadir said the hoodlums, who were armed, had targeted the sales of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. “We will disclose the identities of the killed policemen after duly informing their various families. “Their remains have been deposited in the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto,” he added.
