The Presidency has shelved its meeting with northern traditional rulers over the recent ethnic tensions in the country due to the last-minute discovery that invitations were not extended to Christian royal fathers in the region.
The meeting with the traditional rulers was to be in continuation of the ongoing consultations by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo with leaders of thought to douse ethnic tensions arising from the secessionists agitations by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and ‘Igbo-must-go’ response by Northern youth groups.
At about 4pm when the meeting was scheduled to start, some of the participants, who had arrived and were seated for the parley, were seen leaving the State House Banquet Hall, venue of the event.
The seating arrangement in the hall had been concluded by Presidency protocol officials and name tags attached to each participant’s seat before the parley was cancelled. Read more
