Osinbajo postpones meeting with northern traditional rulers

The Presidency has shelved its meeting with north­ern traditional rulers over the recent ethnic tensions in the country due to the last-minute discovery that invitations were not extended to Christian royal fathers in the region.

The meeting with the tradi­tional rulers was to be in contin­uation of the ongoing consulta­tions by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo with leaders of thought to douse ethnic tensions aris­ing from the secessionists agita­tions by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and ‘Igbo-must-go’ response by Northern youth groups.

At about 4pm when the meet­ing was scheduled to start, some of the participants, who had ar­rived and were seated for the par­ley, were seen leaving the State House Banquet Hall, venue of the event.

The seating arrangement in the hall had been concluded by Presidency protocol officials and name tags attached to each partic­ipant’s seat before the parley was cancelled. Read more
