Alex Otti alleges manipulation of National Assembly election results

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Alex Otti, has vowed that the party will leave no stone unturned to reclaim the mandate freely given to its National Assembly candidates in last Saturday’s elections in the state. Otti assured the party’s teeming supporters that their votes for the party in the March 28 must count, in spite of the present challenges. He gave the assurance at a reception organised in his honour by a committee of friends from Isi-Eketa in Isialangwa South Local Government Area.

He spoke against the backdrop of the alleged manipulation of the results of the National Assembly elections in the state in favour of the ruling-People’s Democratic Party. He urged the people not to allow the development to dampen their zeal to come out en masse for the April 11 governorship and state assembly polls, assuring them that adequate security would be provided.
Otti said that the party would reverse the results of the elections in its favour ‘’in a matter of months.’’

“He will not last in office, we will get him out in a matter of months,’’ he said, referring to the declaration of Gov. Theodore Orji as the winner of the Abia North Senatorial District poll. “We fought with criminals but now they have realised that they are dealing with a man that is stronger than them,’’ he said, adding that ‘’in the past, they would have had their way.

‘’It is a moral issue, if you take what did not belong to you, you will never have peace.

‘’A man who did not win election in his booth wants to go to Senate, it will never happen,’’ Otti said.

He said that the outgoing administration was putting up strong resistance against him ‘’because the governor is afraid that I will probe him when I become governor, but what God has destined to be must be.’’

He promised that he would make life more meaningful for the people by transforming socio-economic landscape of the state, if elected. The APGA governorship hopeful also promised to build a higher institution in the area, adding that education would receive priority attention during his administration. He said that he would introduce free and compulsory education and assured teachers and pensioners of prompt payment of their salaries and pensions.

The former Diamond Bank chief executive said that his administration would provide grants to women to start petty businesses, while fertilizers would be provided for farmers. He said that the state would be made competitive for local and foreign investors to come in and that industries would spring up to provide jobs for the youths.

‘’Having worked in the banking sector for the past 25 years, I know where the whole money in the world is and I will bring it to develop the state,’’ he said.

Earlier in their separate speeches, the spokesmen of the organizers, Prof. Franic Ochor and Chief Vine Nwogwugwu, hailed Otti for leaving his comfort zone to a state of uncertainty out of his passion to salvage his people from long years of suffering and misrule. They described him as an honest, transparent, forthright, dependable, highly cerebral and visionary administrator par excellence.

They assured him that the community would vote massively for him in the election.
