All the fifty-seven Chairmen of the Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State may have landed in hot waters with Akinwunmi Ambode, the Governor of the state.
This is due to what Ambode deemed as a betrayal over the chairmen’s decision to not to support his ambition to run for a second term.
The Governor’s plan was already being suspected by the chairmen immediately after his second term plan was rejected with party leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) choosing not to support his bid.
There are strong indications that all avenues towards currying the favour of the APC party leaders have been exhausted with the Governor planning to make those he believed contributed to his misfortune suffer.
The Chairmen claimed that part of Ambode’s plan is to deprive them of the monthly allocations which come through the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC).
Sources disclosed that the chairmen reached out to the party hierarchy in order to salvage the situation with the warning that our democracy is at risk if the Governor isn’t called to order.
