Averting the Rising Spate of Child Kidnapping in Nigeria is a sensitisation programme that is an initiative of Background Check International. The seminar which took place on May 1, 2015 at Lagos State Chamber of Commerce had security expert, Mr John Aderoju, Publisher of Working Moms magazine, Mrs Mary Ikoku, Mr Dimeji Awoyemi, Mrs Adebisi Orekoya of the OLX nanny kidnap case, and the CEO and MD of Background Check International, Mr. Kola and Tunji Olugbodi in on a panel.
John Aderoju explained to the audience that kidnapping is one of the most lucrative ‘businesses’ after drug trafficking; even developed nations like the US are still struggling to eradicate kidnapping.
After Mrs Orekoya gave a touching narrative of her ordeal with the kidnappers, Kola Olugbodi then explained how Background Check International works.
He said BCI had staff in remote places, to check out addresses and other details of potential employees for their clients.
Mrs Mary Ikoku of Working Moms, emphasized the need for employers to do a thorough background check on potential employees before hiring them. She also advised working mothers to find a way of balancing their work and home schedule.
At the end of the seminar, Kola Olugbodi gave the audience security tips, advising them to contact BCI to do background check on potential employees, and to use the BCI website, www. NIPPINGKIDNAPS.com for more security tips.
