Bayelsa mourns Alamieyeseigha

Bayelsa State Government yesterday declared 7 days of mourning in honour of the first civilian governor of the State Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, who passed on last Saturday and directed that flags in all public buildings and premises across the state be flown at half mast.

This came as the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, worldwide, flayed the Federal Government and the United Kingdom government, claiming that the latter’s request for Alamieyeseigha’s extradition hastened his death.

The Bayelsa State Government, in a statement by Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Esueme Dan-Kikile, said within the period of mourning, all its official engagements remained cancelled. Read more
