Blind Rage: ‘I killed my wife because she disobeyed me’ – Suspect

A 39-year-old man, Farida Banti who was arrested by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife has confessed that he killed her because she disobeyed him.

Punch reports that Banti, a resident of Hungu village in the Mariga Local Government Area of the state, allegedly murdered his wife Hajo, also known as Maijari, with a cutlass during a fight in their home.

The suspect was said to have earlier sent his the deceased to her parent’s house ‘to learn manners’ but after some time, he demanded that she should return home but she allegedly refused to return.

The remorseful suspect who spoke to journalists while in detention, confessed that he killed his wife with a cutlass over their ‘incessant misunderstanding.’

“I inflicted deep cuts on my wife which resulted in her death because she refused to obey me.

In fact, it was extreme provocation that made me kill my wife. I regret my actions and I will advise women to learn to obey their husbands so that what happened to my wife will not happen to them,” he said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muhammad Abubakar who confirmed the incident, said the matter would be charged to court as soon as investigations into the case were completed.
