The spate of defections at the National Assembly has continued following the defection of 37 members of the House of Representatives crossing carpet from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to the opposition parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The defection from the Green Chamber followed the earlier defection of 15 Senators from the APC to the PDP.
Out of the 37 members of the House of Representatives that defected from the APC, 33 members decamped to the PDP while four others moved to the ADC. The names of the lawmakers decamping are yet to be made public.
Before the mass defection, there were reports that over 100 members were on the verge of leaving the ruling party and there was a list of members who would possibly leave the ruling party.
The lawmakers announced their defection during plenary on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, and was read during the plenary was presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara.
