The acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has moved swiftly by sacking the Director-General of the Director-General of the Department of State Service, Lawal Daura, following the invasion of the National Assembly by operatives of the agency this morning.
It was gathered that Osinbajo decided to fire Daura following many infractions by the agency in the past where they took the laws into their hands and have been hounding perceived enemies of the government.
Announcing the sack of Daura via his verified Twitter handle, @akandeoj, Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, disclosed that the sack of the DSS D-G was with immediate effect.
Akande also posted that Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.
“AgP Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the DG of the DSS, Mr. Lawal Musa Daura.
Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.”

A few weeks ago, operatives of the DSS, the police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC), laid siege to the homes of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu where they were prevented from leaving their houses ostensibly to stop them from attending plenary where a plan was alleged to be in the offing to impeach them.
