The APC has joined the fray as reactions continue to pour in from within and outside the country regarding the announcement last weekend that Nigeria’s GDP of $453 billion in 2012 was higher than South Africa’s $384 billion.
The opposition party in a strongly worded reaction in the wake of the re-basing of the economy which has placed Nigeria’s GDP FAR above South Africa’s, described the news as “economic voodoo and an elaborate kalo-kalo. How can you have 10 naira in the morning and 100 naira in the evening if you did not play kalo-kalo?” the statement queried.
Continuing the party said “We know the plan of the ruling party. By re-basing the GDP they are paving the way for GEJ to buy more planes. We shall not be fooled. The GDP must be un-rebased and the coordinating minister of the economy taken for deliverance.”
