President Muhammadu Buhari has, for the umpteenth time assured the parents of abducted school girls of Government Girls Secondary School Chibok, Borno State, that their daughters would never be forgotten or abandoned to their fate, despite four long years since they were taken away by terrorists. This was even as he urged the parents to keep their hopes alive on the return of their daughters, noting that the recovery  of more than a hundred of the girls that were kidnapped through the Federal Government’s determined effort should give confidence that all “hope is not lost”. The Nigerian presidency has said that the information contained tweeted by a journalist, Ahmed Salkida, about Chibok girls is not known to the officials of the administration. Mr Salkida is believed to have access to Boko Haram, the terror group that kidnapped about 217 girls from their school in GSS Chibok in 2014. While many of the girls were released through negotiations, a few escaped from captivity. About 113 of them are still believed to be with Boko Haram. Mr. Salkida in a series of tweets Saturday, which marked the fourth anniversary of the abduction of the girls however, said of the only 15 were alive. Read more

A white man who goes by the name Justin Sun on his Twitter handle is alleged to have claimed that someone he identified as “Nigerian president” sold the official Twitter handle of the ruling All Progressives Congress to him for $2,000. A rabidly circulating tweet with suspicious verified Twitter handle, “Justin Sun @APCNigeria,” shows one Mr. Justin Sun threatening to reveal all the correspondences between him and a supposed president of Nigeria if his demands were not met. In the Tweet allegedly posted at 7.52pm on Saturday, April 14, 2018, Justin Sun, who resides in San Francisco, state of California, USA, asked to be paid $100,000 for him to shut up about how APC’s Twitter handle became his personal possession. Coordinator Bring Back our Girls (BBOG), Lagos State Chapter, Mrs Aisha Oyebode, has called on Nigerians to stand up in prayers for Nigerian children especially the remaining Chibok schoolgirls and Dapchi schoolgirl still in the hands of terrorists. She made the call, on Friday night, at the Interfaith Vigil of the 4th Anniversary of the abduction of Chibok school girls, at Falomo Roundabout, Lagos. Ondo NURTW Scribe Kidnapped (Independent)

Kayode Agbeyangi, secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ondo state branch, was in the early hours of Saturday kidnapped. Agbeyangi was reportedly kidnapped along Akure-Ilesa road while on his way to Lagos to meet members of his family. Jacob Adebo, state chairman of the union, confirmed the abduction of the union’s secretary and said the incident occurred on the expressway at Ilesa area. A level 13 civil servant in Ebonyi state has been killed in a renewed crisis between the people of Enyigba, Abakaliki local government area of the state and their Alike-Ikwo in Ikwo local government area of the state. A powerful spring storm pummelled the U.S. Midwest and Plains on Saturday with blizzard conditions and high winds, while tornadoes and thunderstorms threatened some of the South. Zim vice president’s wife ‘takes over state-run farm’: report (News24)

The wife of Zimbabwe’s vice president Constantino Chiwenga has taken over a farm run by a state agricultural agency, a newspaper claimed on Friday. The Zimbabwe Independent reports that the 300-hectare seed farm run by the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) is being guarded by men with automatic weapons and that workers are erecting a new fence around the property. “ARDA Seeds is no longer here; this is now the vice president’s property,” one of the armed men was quoted as telling the paper. Former president Robert Mugabe’s controversial land reform programme, which was launched in 2000, sparked a long-running economic and political crisis.
