Buhari May Lose 2019 Election, Says US Intelligence Agency
A United State based analysis firm Teneo Intelligence has predicted that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari could lose the 2019 election if the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is united. The company’s vice president, Malte Liewerscheidt, who also covers political risks in West Africa, while analysing the outcome of the recent Osun state gubernatorial election said it was a bad signal for the ruling party and signals its waning popularity.
Bichi, DSS Boss Meets Osinbajo
Mr. Yusuf Bichi, the New Director General of the Director of State Services (DSS), is reported to have met with the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, at the state house in Abuja on Tuesday. The details of the meeting are yet unknown as Bichi declined to speak with the media, channelstv reports. Mr Bichi was appointed on September 13 to replace Mr Matthew Seiyeifa, who has been in the acting capacity after the dismissal of Mr. Lawal Daura. Daura was fired by the then Acting President Osinbajo on August 7, when President Muhammadu Buhari was on vacation.

The dream of every outgoing governor is to produce a successor and the outgoing Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola is not an exception. He also nursed this dream. He may not have liked the choice of the party’s candidate, since he did not personally anoint him. An Umuahia High court in Abia state presided over by Honourable Justice C. U. Okoroafor,Tuesday, granted an order setting aside the executives at the Ward, Local Government, Zonal and State levels of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Abia State Chapter. The court further restrained APGA, their agents, party men, servants, privies or any other person or persons acting on their behalf from implementing or giving effect to all decisions, directives and activities pertaining to the running of the affairs of APGA in Abia State taken or reached at without the participation or involvement of Prince Nnanna Ukaegbu as the Abia State chairman of APGA.
Not Too Late To Avert Strike, Aremu Tells FG
A labour leader, Issa Aremu, has said that it is not late for the Federal Government to avert industrial crisis that will occur if it does not address the ultimatum of the organised labour. The organised labour had issued the government a 14-day ultimatum from Wednesday, September 12, with clear demand that the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage should conclude its work within the stipulated timeframe.
Abdulsalami Committee Begins Work On 2019 Polls
The National Peace Committee (NPC) led by former head of state, Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd), has commenced work ahead of the 2019 general election, saying no force can stop the will of the people in the forthcoming polls. The committee yesterday met with chairman of the Independent Electoral Committee (INEC), staff of the commission, security agencies and leaders of the 91 political parties in the country. It also released a book containing reports on Nigeria’s peaceful transition and how it saved several lives before, during and after the 2015 general election.
Ghana Closes 400 Nigerian Businesses
More than 400 businesses owned by Nigerians have been closed by authorities in Ghana, sparking a protest by owners who have issued a week ultimatum within which to resolve the surrounding the maltreatment of Nigerian business community in Ghana. The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS) have written a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on the issue.
Ronke Shonde Died From Brain Injury, Says Pathologist
A pathologist with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Dr S.S. Soyele, on Tuesday told a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja that Ronke Shonde, who was allegedly murdered by her husband, Lekan, died from severe brain injury. Soyele said a postmortem conducted on Ronke’s corpse revealed that her brain was heavy, swollen and filled with water. Punch Metro had reported that 51-year-old Lekan allegedly beat his wife to death at their home in the Egbeda-Idimu area of Lagos State. He was alleged to have locked the door on the corpse and their two children before the incident was discovered by a housekeeper and later reported to the police.
PANDEF Opposes Sale of OML 25, Vows to Resist Move
Chief Edwin Clark, has opposed the planned sale of Belema oil field, OML 25, by Shell Petroleum Development Company to Chrester Nigeria Ltd. This is even as it accused SPDC of instigating an attack by soldiers on Kula Kingdom, Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State on September 15, 2018. While insisting on divestment from the oil field to an indigenous firm, the group warned that it would resist moves by the multinational oil company to sell it to a foreign corporate entity. It has therefore called on the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, grant Niger Delta indigenes and the Niger Delta State governments who are interested, the right of first refusal in the renewal and award of oil licenses.
Road Closed As Tanker Falls, Spills Content On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
An oil tanker was involved in an accident on the Lagos-Ibadan on Wednesday morning. The tanker fell around Berger area, coming inwards from the Kara area of the expressway. Although the vehicle has been evacuated, the oil spill is currently being flushed away to prevent another accident.MNews of the accident was disclosed via a tweet on the handle of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), which read: “The accidented trailer after Berger inw Kara. Super Eagles May Now Host Libya In Uyo
There are indications that Nigeria will host Libya in their African Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo following concerns over the state of facilities and security at the earlier touted Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had earlier written to African football governing body, CAF to bring the game forward to Saturday, October 13 instead of October 12 due to logistics considerations. But now, it appears the NFF will shift the game to Uyo, which hosted Super Eagles Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers last year.NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi declined comments on the venue change yesterday, but The Guardian learnt that the federation had informed CAF of its intention to take the game to Uyo.

Pope Urges Chinese Catholics To Heal Past Divisions
Pope Francis on Wednesday urged Chinese Catholics to overcome past divisions and open a new phase of faith following a landmark agreement over bishop nominations aimed at ending decades of estrangement between the Vatican and Beijing that had split the church. Francis announced that he had written a letter to the Chinese faithful aimed at encouraging them to “heal the wounds of the past and re-establish and maintain full communion.” The letter was to be released later Wednesday.
