Four of the leaders of the #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) movement have announced to take a leave of leading the pressure group, following the political ambition of a co-founder of the movement, Oby Ezekwesili. Aisha Yesufu, Florence Ozor, Maureen Kabrik and Dudu Bakam have decided to step down after the emergence of Mrs Ezekwesili as the presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria. In a statement released on Tuesday by the key members of the BBOG, the four made the decision in order to support Mrs Ezekwesili in her run to be president of Nigeria in 2019. She has also formally announced her step down from leadership of the movement.

Former military Head of State Ibrahim Babangida has dissociated himself from a Twitter account which bears his name and pictures. This is coming after the parody account which has over 50000 followers declared its support for the opposition People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and also dissed President Muhammad Buhari for his trips abroad. “It has been brought to my understanding that Atiku cannot travel to some part of the world; well, I think I will prefer a President who will spend most of his time dealing with Nigerians in Nigeria, not a someone who already knows the route to all the countries like a Pilot,” the fake account tweeted.

The controversy surrounding the Kaduna Central senatorial slot, ahead of 2019 general elections, Alhaji Uba Sani has been issued with the certificate of return. Sani was among those given the certificates on Monday by Mr. Mathew Idouriyekemwen, the Chairman of the electoral committee set up by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to conduct primaries in Kaduna State.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has raised the alarm over a smear campaign against its governorship candidate, Nsima Ekere. The party said the Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration was behind the plot. A statement by its state Publicity Secretary, Nkereuwem Enyongekere, claimed that there have been a series of secret meetings by top officials at the Government House against Ekere. The party’s spokesman alleged that the government had a four-pronged approach to discredit its governorship candidate.

Also, the Action Democratic Party, ADP, announced Dr. Ese Owie as Edo South senatorial district candidate even as Pius Alile emerged as the House of Representatives candidate for Egor/Ikpobha Okha federal constituency. Moreover, Uyi Oriakhi clinched the the House of Assembly ticket for Egor, on the platform of the ADP.
IGP Removes Plateau CP
The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the removal of the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Undie Adie, with immediate effect. A statement by the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, Matthias Tyopev, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, announced the removal. Adie has been replaced with Austin Agbonlahor, who was until his appointment, the CP (Operations) at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

22 Zika Virus Cases in India, No Deaths Reported
India has reported its third Zika virus outbreak in the Western State of Rajasthan since January 2017, where 22 people have tested positive and no death were reported Tuesday. “Till date, a total of 22 positive laboratory confirmed cases have been detected. Police in Mexico have arrested a couple on suspicion of murdering 20 women and chopping up their bodies for pet food. The man and women, identified only as Juan Carlos N and Patricia N, are alleged to have lured victims to their home in Mexico City on the pretence of selling them clothes. Thousands of websites could be borked by the arrival of Chrome 70. The issue stems from a long publicised decision to revoke security certificates issued by Symantec. The move involves pre-June 2016 certificates from Symantec itself, as well as Thawte, VeriSign, Equifax, GeoTrust and RapidSSL. But Techcrunch reports that, despite having over a year to prepare, 1139 of the top million websites are still using a certificate set for the chop. According to security researcher Scott Helme These include some big names like Pantone (not the cake people) and Ferrari.
Heathrow Airport Fined for Losing a USB Stick with Employee Data
Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL) has been ordered to pay a fine of £120,000 for not paying enough attention to data protection. Issuing the Monetary Penalty Notice, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) said the penalty is being issued “because of a serious contravention of the Seventh Data Protection Principle”. One of HAL’s employees had lost a removable stick a year ago. The stick contained more than a thousand of easily accessible, unencrypted files. On those files were, among other things, information about employees, their names, dates of birth and passport numbers. HAL aviation security personnel’s data was also compromised.
