Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Nigerian Senate President, refused to honour the summons by the Nigeria Police Force for him to appear to answer questions over his involvement with the Offa armed robbery suspects and is currently presiding over the plenary.
Saraki’s decision not honour the police invitation, according to inside sources, may not be unconnected to the report that he was going to be impeached by some Senators in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said:
“There is a plan for rival Senate group to sit and elect new principal officers today and the Senate President is the target.”
However, Saraki was able to outwit the Senators and managed to sneak out of his Maitama residence despite an invasion by a combined security team comprising the DSS, Police and the EFCC and made his way to the Senate where he presided over plenary.
