An officer of the Nigerian Customs Service has murdered a passenger in cold blood over his refusal to give him a bribe of N5,000.
This incident occurred along the Benin-Asaba Road when passengers in a bus were intercepted by Customs officials.
The passengers were coming from Lagos after a trip abroad and were carrying goods.
Eventually, arguments ensued over the refusal of the passenger to pay the bribe which led to one of the operatives opening fire.
The passenger eventually died on the spot.
Other passengers held the officer and his colleagues and disarmed them to be safe from their belligerence.
They stopped other vehicles to see what the trigger-happy officer had done as they held the officer who killed the man and inflicted injuries on him and others.
