In what is fast appearing like a banking industry wide investigation into sums allegedly received from former Petroleum Minister, Dieziani Allison Madueke, First Bank has confirmed that the EFCC has invited a member of their staff for questioning.
Mr. Dauda Lawal, an Executive Director of First Bank has become the 4th top ranking bank executive to be quizzed by the EFCC in the unfolding Dieziani-gate. Others are Nnamdi Okonkwo of Fidelity Bank, Yemi Adeola of Sterling Bank and Herbert Wigwe of Access Bank.
First bank confirmed the development in a short statement made available to staging.sabinews.com.
“An Executive Director of First Bank Mr. Dauda Lawal was invited by the EFCC to assist with the ongoing investigations into sums allegedly received from the former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke. As a law abiding citizen, Mr. Lawal is cooperating fully with the authorities.
FirstBank will issue an official statement on this matter in due course.”
