A suspected cult leader named Kayode Ojo has been detained over an alleged threat made on the life of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Oworonshoki, Ifeanyi Owo.
The threats were made by Ojo after a member of his gang, Austine Oghieh was arrested during a fight within the Oworonshoki area of Lagos State. Ojo reportedly threatened the DPO with death if he fails to release Oghieh from custody.
The DPO immediately contacted the Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who directed all divisions and police units in the state after the gang leader.
A police source said the suspect was eventually tracked to his hideout at Obawole area of Iju, where he was arrested.
The suspect was paraded on October 11, 2018, in the morning with Edgal telling the media Ifeanyi received a call from an unknown number with a threat made on his life.
He continued, “Consequently, the squad went underground and deciphered the unknown number to be MTN number 07033719352 owned by one Austine Oghieh, aged 38.
“He was traced to No. 15, Fakeye Street, off Jimoh Yusuf Obawole, Fagba, where he was apprehended. The suspect confessed to the crime. On completion of the investigation, he will be charged to court accordingly”.
