Eating yoghurt can reduce the risk of heart attacks (Menshealth)

For years, yoghurt has been championed as the ultimate cure for gut health and a high-protein snack that every lifter should be eating. But it seems, according to a new study, that a few scoops (of yoghurt, not protein) each week could protect your heart.

Published in the American Journal of Hypertension, eating at least two servings of yoghurt a week lowers the risk of men with hypertension suffering a cardiovascular event by up to 19 per cent.

It’s thought that the combination of the natural yoghurt’s fermentation and calcium content plays a vital role in the normal contraction and relaxation of the heart, while probiotics, found in fermented foods, helps reduce blood pressure. Read more
