Ekiti Poly Workers Protest, Ask Rector To Resign

The workers of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, yesterday, protested against the alleged fraudulent practices of the Rector of the institution, Dr. Taiwo Akande, vowing to keep the system shut down until their demands are met and the rector relieved of her position.

The protesters , who occupied the Ado-Ijan highway for several hours to register their displeasure at the alleged anti-workers activities of the management of the institution had been on strike since October 10, 2016  over the lingering crises.

Led by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Mr  Tunji Owoeye  and  his counterpart in the  Senior Staff Association Nigeria Polytechnics(SSANIP), Dr Oluwole Ayeni, disrupted traffic  as they held prayers on the road for several hours, leading to long queues of vehicles along that route.
