Wife of Kaduna state governor-elect, Aisha Nasir El-Rufai, on Saturday received another solidarity trekker, Haruna Muhammed Salisu, in Kaduna as he journeys from Kano to Abuja in protest against what he termed, “injustice against gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Taraba state, Hajiya Aisha Al-Hassan, during the just concluded Taraba state governorship election.
According to Salisu, he is walking from Kano to Abuja with documented facts on the massive rigging against Taraba APC female gubernatorial candidate, Aisha Jummai-Alhassan to hand over to the party leaders for action. Read more
Chief Imam Of Abuja national mosque buried amid tears
The Chief Imam of Abuja National Mosque, late Sheikh Musa Muhammad, was on Sunday buried at the Gudu Cemetery in FCT amid tears and prayers from families and well wishers.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the burial, which was conducted under tight security, was attended by the Kano state Governor-elect, Alhaji Umar Ganduje. Read more
Probe PWC for deceiving Nigerians, Hon Adeola tells Buhari
The senator-elect for Lagos West Senatorial District and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, Solomon Adeola has called on the incoming federal government and relevant financial and auditing regulatory bodies to appropriately sanction auditing firm, PriceWater House Coopers (PWC) for misleading and deceiving Nigerians on the issue of the missing $20billion NNPC fund as alleged by the former CBN governor and present Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
Speaking to journalists against the backdrop of revelations from the ‘Forensic’ Audit Report of the Missing NNPC $20billion and the disclosure by PWC that it did not really audit NNPC accounts contrary to impression created, Hon. Adeola said his committee addressed the media on the need to make the report public as there appears to be many shortcomings in the procedure for engaging PWC and its subsequent work has been vindicated on its alarm that an unprofessional work might have been done to deceive Nigerians on the weighty allegation of missing billions of dollars. Igbinedion donates N8m at Chief Judge’s book launch sameday another judge sentenced his Son
An embarrassing scenario for the judiciary played out last Thursday as businessman and father of former Edo State governor, Lucky Igbinedion, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, donated N8 million at the launch of a book in honour of the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta while another judge of the same court sentenced his son, Michael, for offences related to money laundering.
Igbinedion made the highest donation of N8 million at the book launch. Read more
Ogun police arrest cultists, suspected robbers in Ota
Ogun State Police Command on Saturday arrested three suspected ring leaders of a secret cult group, Aiye (Black Axe), in Ijako, Ado Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The police command said detectives attached to Ota Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Muyideen Adisa, a chief superintendent of police, swooped on the hoodlums in an uncompleted building, where they were allegedly preparing to unleash terror on the residents. Read more
Ekiti APC lawmakers allege plot to kidnap them
The 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) members of the Ekiti House of Assembly yesterday raised the alarm over an alleged plan to kidnap them and members of their families.
They accused Governor Ayo Fayose of commissioning thugs to trail and abduct them to stop them from proceeding with their plan to impeach. Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, on Sunday accused the Peoples Democratic Party governors across the country for the massive electoral defeat suffered by out-going President Goodluck Jonathan, in the just-concluded presidential election.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has urged Governments, societies and individuals to uphold the principles put forward by Member States on the need for the free exchange of information and ideas among nations.

FAAN Director Sacked
A petition written by the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) has forced the Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, to sack the newly appointed Director of Finance and Account of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Tochukwu Bede Uchendu. A fortnight ago, ATSSSAN drew the attention of concerned authorities to Uchendu’s appointment and described it as illegal, as the later was still holding another job, while working as a Director of Finance in FAAN.
The union had in a petition to the Head of Service of the Federation on March 23, 2015, claimed that Uchendu is a director in the company owned by the minister, Consumer Investment Limited, and therefore. It is obvious that he may not be able to discharge his duties without fear or favour as he would have to contend with conflict of interests because of his ownership as a board member of Consumer Investment Limited, a company which the wife of the minister is also a serving Director. A letter addressed to the sacked director, bearing the letterhead of the Ministry of Aviation and signed by the Director of Human Resources Management in the ministry. Read more
China donates table tennis equipment to Nigeria
The Chinese Table Tennis Association (CTTA) on Sunday donated equipment to the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) to support its youth development program.
A statement from the NTTF reaching Xinhua in Lagos, Nigeria’s economic hub, said the donation was facilitated by the Chinese Ambassador in Nigeria, Gu Xiaojie and the equipment was received in Suzhou at the just concluded ITTF World Championships by NTTF President, Wahid Oshodi including members of the national team led by Segun Toriola. The people of Ukpedi Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State have disclaimed a kinsman who allegedly referred to himself as the Ovie of the kingdom.
In a letter addressed to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and copied to the deputy governor, Prof. Amos Agbe Utuama (SAN), and the governor elect, Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, and signed by representatives of the kingdom, the Ofuevu and Olorogun Wilson Macaulay, the Oghweta, the community, explained that HRM T.E.M Oviri (J.P) Ugo Okwagbe I is the Ovie of Ukpedi Kingdom and as such all relevant authorities should disregard the kinsman’s claim to the kingship. A’Ibom LP expels five ex-exco members, suspends 11
The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Labour Party, in conjunction with its national headquarters, Abuja, has suspended 11 of its members and expelled five of its former state executives members.
A statement signed by the party’s state chairman, Prof. Ekeng Anam-Ndu; state secretary, Elder Utip Etiebet, and endorsed by the National Deputy Chairman, Mr. Calistus Okafor, in Uyo on Saturday, said the affected persons were investigated and found to be guilty of anti-party activities and display of unwarranted impunity.
