Enyimba vs Raja Casablanca Preview

The People’s Elephant will seek to defeat the Moroccan club with their strong home record and support.

The first leg semi-final clash of the Confederations Cup match between two of Africa’s heavyweights takes place on Wednesday as they battle for a place in the final.

Enyimba has confounded many people’s expectations by reaching the last four with a team very little was expected.

The impact of new coach Abdallah Usman who replaced Nigeria’s U-20 coach, Paul Aigbogun can’t be overemphasized as the Aba-based team are now a stronger and more formidable unit.

The People’s Elephant defeated Rayon Sports in the last four and confidence will be sky-high about their prospects of reaching the finals and winning the trophy.

Pre-tournament favourites Raja have had a decent outing – losing just once in their last eight games and they would be hoping to halt Enyimba’s fine home fun to make the second-leg easy.

To achieve this, they will certainly bank on Mahmoud Benhalib to get the goals at the Aba International Stadium. Benhalib tops the Confederation Cup chart with 11 goals.

Goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai is expected to man the goalpost again thanks to his brilliant form since displacing Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Fatau Dauda.

Whatever the scoreline is in Aba, the finalist will be known on October 24 at the Stade Mohammed V, Casablanca.
