EXCITEMENT AT FARAFINA LITERARY EVENING by Jite Efemuaye

Ten days of writing classes for 32 participants of the 2014 Farafina Trust Creative Writing Workshop came to an end on Friday August 22, 2014 with the Farafina Literary Evening which held at the Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Evening had in attendance the top brass of Nigerian Breweries, the Lagos literary community and television personalities.

The mood was light and joyful as the mostly young audience cheered spoken word performances by Efe Paul Zino, who attended the workshop in 2013 and Bassey Ikpi who participated in this year’s. Cheers also met the introduction of the workshop’s facilitators, Eghosa Imasuen, Binyavanga Wainana and Chimamanda Adichie who looked resplendent in a white dress and had her hair in a beautifully crafted bun.

Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State made a brief appearance as the Evening wrapped up with a performance from rapper Phyno who had the audience on their feet dancing and singing along with his hits.
