Renowned Nigerian legal practitioner and human rights activist, Femi Falana is of the opinion that any politician who intends to run for the position of the president should endeavour to listen to the music of the late Afro Beat creator, Fela Anikulapo Kuti for enlightenment on national issues.
Falana was speaking at the 2018 edition of Felabration, a celebration of the times and life of the legendary Abami Eda, tagged Fela @80: Overtaking Overtake, where he posited that politicians and aspiring presidents should listen to Fela’s music and to learn from his confrontational compositions because they contained the principles and guidelines that will help to build a liberal environment where the citizens can be empowered and equipped in diverse sectors.
The fiery lawyer added that there are revelations that could be found in Fela’s music which can help in nation building and politicians should not only learn about them but also imbibe same.
“I want most of these presidential aspirants to listen to Fela’s music very well. That’s where they can find solutions to most of our problems.
“Our country is rich as Fela sang in his music, but our people are still hungry and poor; you must understand our society before you can lead us,” Falana, whose son, Falz is a very popular musician in his own right, said.
Falana also urged young Nigerians to become vibrant with their minds and endeavor to work towards building a better Nigeria and transform Africa.
