FESTAC Robbery: Nurse, Baby Killed by Stray Bullet
A middle-aged nurse, Mrs. Jane Ndirika and her one year, two months old baby, Mmesoma, were today killed by the stray bullet released by the dare-devil armed robbers who stormed FESTAC Town, Lagos, this morning.
The duo were killed right in their sitting room, in their residence along 4th Avenue, when the robbers were sporadically releasing hails of buckets to ward off the police, whilst their operations were ongoing. Read more
Alamieyeseigha’s Death Caused By FG – IYC
The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has alleged that the death of Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, former governor of Bayelsa State, was caused by the Federal Government.
IYC made the allegation in a statement on Tuesday by its spokesman, Eric Omare, while reacting to last Saturday’s death of Alamieyeseigha at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Read more
Senate clears 10 ministerial nominees
The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday cleared ten nominees as ministers out of 21 names initially sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Those already cleared include chief Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Udo Udoma, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Chief Audu Ogbeh and Dr Osagie Ehanire. Also cleared by the Senate are Lt. Gen. Abdurahman Dambazau, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Amina Mohammed, Engr. Suleiman Adamu and Ibrahim Usman Jibril. Read more
Rivers: Tribunal Upholds Senator Nwogo’s Victory
The Rivers state National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has upheld the election of Senator Olaka Johnson Nwogo representing Rivers south east senatorial district in the senate.
At the resumed hearing Tuesday, the tribunal dismissed the petition brought by Senator Magnus Abe and his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) to challenge the validity of the declaration of Nwogo as winner. Read more
Metuh Dismisses Claim of Law Suit Against Him By Lai Mohammed
The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh has said that neither him nor any of his lawyers are not aware of any law suit by the Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress Lai Mohammed.
A statement issued on Tuesday by Metuh’s Special Assistant, Mr. Richard Ihediwa said the PDP scribe has not been served any notice on the case. Read more
37 Year-old Anambra Teacher Is First Maltina Teacher Of The Year
37 year-old Chemistry and Mathematics teacher at Federal Government College, Onitsha, Anambra State, Mrs. Rose Obi Amambra state, has emerged the overall winner of the inaugural Maltina Teacher of the year award.

NSE Names Rand Bank, Chapel Hill Consortium Demutualisation Adviser

Dickson Postpones Re-election Campaign Flag-off
Bayelsa State governor Seriake Dickson on Tuesday announced the postponement of the official flag-off of his re-election campaign earlier scheduled to hold this Saturday, October 17,2015 in Yenagoa.

Fayose suspends Ekiti airport project
Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has ordered an immediate suspension of work on the airport project going on the outskirts of Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
This followed a meeting he held with land owners and farmers who has plantations on the land earmarked for the project at Jibowu Hall of the Government House on Tuesday. An oil palm plantation farmer, Tijani Hakeem, was said to have died of shock over destruction of his plantations by bulldozers mobilized to the site. Read more

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, on Tuesday said two people have been arrested in connection with the twin blasts that rocked Abuja two weeks ago. The suspects who are from Okene area of Kogi State are – Abdulazeez Muhazab (27) and Isiaka Salihu (25). Read more
UNHCR Condemns Deadly Boko Haram Attacks in Chad
The U.N. refugee agencycondemns two suicide attacks by Nigeria’s militant Boko Haram group in Western Chad over the weekend, killing and maiming scores of people, among them internally displaced people.
Suicide bombers, including three women and two teenage boys, attacked a fish market Saturday in the Chadian town of Baga Sola and the Kousseri site for internally displaced people on the outskirts of the city. The attacks left 47 dead and wounded dozens of others. Nearly half of the dead were from the displaced peoples’ camp. Read more

On October 15, over 200 million people worldwide will mark this simple fact by promoting a simple behavior—handwashing with soap—in commemoration of Global Handwashing Day. Police foil bank robbery in Lagos, recover N27m, weapons
The Police in Lagos on Tuesday foiled a robbery attempt on Access and Diamond bank in Lagos.
The unsuccessful robbery which lasted several hours was abandoned due to the engagement of the Nigerian Police and other security agencies.
The Area Commander, Area E, Festac division, Mr Frank Mba, who briefed newsmen on the incident, said that the command received information about the robbery at about 8.25 a.m. Read more
EFCC arrests 2 suspected internet fraudsters
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested two suspected internet fraudsters – Arinze Ihekwo and Chinemelu Utaku, over alleged email hacking and obtaining money under false pretence. The commission’s spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, who made the disclosure in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, said the duo would soon be arraigned before a Federal High Court in Asaba. Read more
Southern Kaduna Groups Carpet El-Rufai’s Policies
A Coalition of Southern Kaduna Groups has expressed dismay over what it termed as ‘Policy Summersault’ by the present government of Mallam Nasir El-Rufa’I in the state saying it has virtually stalled activities in the state and left the people guessing on daily basis over what next will befall their faith.
The chairman of the coalition Barr. James Kanyip, who disclosed this in a press conference today organized by the group stated that the inconsistency in policy formulation and implementation in the state is becoming laughable, citing school feeding and land reclaimation amongst other policies of the present administration that has brought the state to its knees because no progress has been recorded. NNPC Advises Nigerians Against Panic Buying
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has called on members of the public to avoid panic buying of petroleum products, especially premium motor spirit (petrol), as there is enough stock of the product to keep the entire country wet for 23 days.
The Corporation gave this assurance against the backdrop of emerging queues noticed at some filling stations in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, arising from rumours of impending scarcity. Read more
