FIFA bans Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini from football

FIFA’s big two beasts have been banned from football, sending the world game into an unprecedented crisis.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter and UEFA chief Michel Platini were suspended for 90 days, which effectively ends their tenures as the two most powerful figures in football.

The decision by FIFA’s ethics committee — who also banned secretary general Jerome Valcke for the same period and South Korean Chung Mong-joon for six years — apparently means that Platini can no longer stand for the FIFA presidency despite his insistence that he will clear his name. Read more
