Game of Thrones boosts Sky revenues (Ft)

The popularity of Game of Thrones helped to propel revenues and earnings higher at Sky in the first three months of its financial year. The broadcaster on Wednesday reported revenues of £3.3bn for the three months to September, an increase of 5 per cent over the prior year on a like-for-like basis. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 11 per cent to £582m. Chief executive Jeremy Darroch said the group was “particularly pleased” with this performance “against the backdrop of pressure on consumer spending and lower spend on UK television advertising”.
