To mark World Music Day in Nigeria, Goethe Institut will be having an electronic music concert in Lagos on Saturday June 13 at the Federal Government Printing Press, 9 Broad Street, Lagos Island, Lagos and Saturday June 20 in Abuja.
The concert is a product of a 5 day workshop facilitated by German Music Producer Marko Furstenberg, French DJ R-Ash and Nigerian DJ Gboyega ‘Afrologic’ Oyedele. Six Nigerian DJs/Electronic music producers have been selected to take part in the workshop, which commenced on Monday, June 8 and ends on Friday, June 12, 2015.
According to the facilitators, electronic music has huge prospects in Nigeria; it is already being fused into afro-pop bit by bit. For the participants, the energy in ‘house music’ as it is called is what drew them to electronic music.
The facilitators and participants are expected to record two songs together which will be performed at the concert on Saturday, along with performances by the participants, DJ Sketch, DJ Bally, DJ Java, PJEGK, Irawo Drumline and DJ Kwest.
According to the director of Goethe-Institut Nigeria, Marc-André Schmachtel, “this workshop will showcase a highly interesting mix of influences that will make the concert on Saturday (June 13th) a unique experience.”
Come enjoy the best of European and Nigerian electronic music at the closing concert of the ‘Electronic Soundscapes’ workshop. Entry is Free.
