A self-driving car being tested by Google crashed into a bus in California.
It is not the first time the company’s self-driven cars have been involved in a crash, but this is the first time the car was the cause of the accident.
The accident occurred on February 14, when Google was testing two dozen Lexus SUVs outfitted with sensors and cameras in Mountain View, near the tech firm’s Silicon Valley headquarters.
Google filed an accident report with California’s Department of Motor Vehicles, but did not specify where the blame lies.
In a statement, Google said: “We clearly bear some responsibility, because if our car hadn’t moved, there wouldn’t have been a collision. That said, our test driver believed the bus was going to slow or stop to allow us to merge into the traffic, and that there would be sufficient space to do that. Read more
