Group protests against corruption in police

A group, Human Rights Defenders and Advocacy Initiative, on Thursday, protested against alleged corruption in the Nigeria Police Force.

The group, which marched to the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja, also observed that policemen were paying for items provided for in the budget allocated to the Force, alleging that the police authorities embezzled the funds.

The Chairman of the group, Innocent Agbo, said, “We demand an immediate stop to the embezzlement of funds meant for the fuelling of patrol vehicles, stationeries, uniform and others. “We have written several letters to the police authorities to explain how the money was spent, but we got no response.
