Fatima Muhammed, a female kidnap suspect who allegedly abducted the 4-year-old son of the Chairman of the Borno State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bukar Dalori, has told the police that she no regrets over the crime that got her arrested.
Muhammed who was pregnant at the time of the crime had reportedly kidnapped the young boy on September 21, 2018, in Maiduguri, and later gave birth to a baby boy at her hideout while still keeping the victim she had abducted from a school and had demanded N20 million ransom for his release.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the young victim was rescued after the state Commissioner of Police, Damian Chukwu, disclosed that the police had launched a full investigation to rescue the child from his captors after he was abducted from his school by Muhammed who falsely claimed to be a relative.
However, when she was paraded before newsmen, Muhammed said she did not regret her actions because she loves money so much.
“I committed the crime because I am in love with money. I have no regrets over the crime I committed and even if it is my own child, I will kidnap him for money.
I know he is the son of the APC Chairman and I took him because I want money to go and enjoy myself somewhere. Why should I regret anything?”
Narrating how the victim was abducted and later released, a police source said:
“It has been an exhaustive investigation. The suspects, a male who came to collect the ransom of N20 million in Kano, has also been arrested by our personnel.
The boy, who was kept in Albarka Hotel in Maiduguri by a lady, was rescued and handed over to the family.
It was after collecting the money that our IRT personnel from Kano arrested her. After her arrest, they promptly told us where the boy was kept.
So we quickly mobilized our men and cordoned off the hotel in Maiduguri. She was the one that went to the school and picked him.”
