Following his performance at the ITTF Africa Senior Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon, Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri has climbed four places in the August rankings of the International Table Tennis Federation.
Quadri lost in the final in Yaounde to arch-rival, Egypt’s Omar Assar, to win silver in the men’s singles. His performance earned him 2204 points to place him 56 from his July’s 60th position.
He is however, still Africa’s second best player as he is behind Assar, who now equals Quadri’s feat in 2014. The Egyptian climbed to his career highest of 30th place with 2293 points from the 47th position he occupied in July.
Quadri became the first African to achieve such feat when he was ranked 30th in November 2014. A position he retained till January 2015 to win the 2014 ITTF Star Player of the Year award. Read more
