The ongoing Lagos Art Biennial, organised by the Akete Foundation and endorsed by the Lagos State Government, will today feature a performance by the artist, Jelili Atiku. Titled ‘Red Day’, it is part of the artist’s Red Series.
The performance will also feature Remi Durosinmi Etti Adeoye, Taiwo Aiyedogbon, Anthony Ajaero, Saidat Omoshalewa Akodu, Chinelo Chukelu, Joe Dauda and a host of others. Venue is Federal Road/Ilukwe House, Railway Compound, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, while time is 3pm.
The maiden edition of the Lagos Biennial of Contemporary Art started on Saturday, October 14 with at least 43 countries showing presence at the Railway Compound, Yaba, Lagos.
Artistic Director of the fiesta and founder of Akete Foundation, Folakunle Oshun, said that the event, which theme is ‘Living on the edge’, will come to a close on November 22.
Ilukwe House and Jaekel House (Museum) are among the many venues to host the event.
Jelili Atiku is an award winning Nigerian multimedia artist, whose performances are concerned with issues of human rights and justice. He is a recipient of the 2015 Prince Claus award, which acknowledged his outstanding work and the creation of a new artistic language.
The other participating artists for the event include Rahima Gambo, Ayo Akinwande, Lena Athanasopoulou, Sam Hopkins, Saba Zavarei, David Palacios, Arrigo Reuss, Lamis Haggag, Dunja Herzog, Jess Atieno, Abdulrazaq Awofeso, Rita GT, Niyi Olagunju, Phoebe Boswell, Kainebi Osahenye and Adeola Olagunju.
