President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria has approved $10 million for the Safe School Project to ensure the safety of all schools and prevent abduction like the one involving over 200 girls at Chibok in Borno State.
The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who disclosed this Friday at the closing media briefing on the World Economic Forum for Africa (WEFA) 2014, explained that the $10 million would be an addition to the $10 million provided on Wednesday by the Nigerian business community.
She said: “The forum is a success because it enables us to mobilize all participants to support us to bring back the girls. The international community has rallied round us to ensure that we bring back our girls. President Goodluck Jonathan has just announced another $10 million for the safe our school project to be added to what the international community has announced.
