Kaduna Govt Confirms Kidnapped Monarch’s Killing, Reinforces Curfew

The Kaduna State government on Friday confirmed the killing of the kidnapped monarch of Atom Adara, Maiwada Galadima. Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Samuel Aruwan, who described the killing of the monarch in Kachia Local Government Area of the state as inhuman, disclosed this in a statement. Galadima’s body was found close to a bush along the Kaduna-Abuja Highway in Kateri in the early hours of Friday, according to the statement.

Atiku Declares Paltry N20m Yearly Income

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, believed to be a multi-billionaire has declared a paltry yearly personal income of N20 million. The shocking revelation was contained in the credentials that Atiku filed with the the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The PDP candidate, who prides himself as a businessman and job creator said he earned only N60.2 million in three years and paid a paltry N10.8 million tax between 2015 and 2017. Some reports have estimated Atiku’s wealth at about $1.4 billion. In 2014, Atiku boasted that he was the greatest employer of labour in Nigeria, with about 50,000 Nigerians on his payroll.

 Leah’s Mother Condoles Hauwa’s Family

The mother of Leah Sharibu, the only christian Dapchi girl still held by Boko Haram, Mrs Rebecca Sharibu has condole with the family of Hauwa Liman recently executed by Boko Haram insurgents. Mrs Sheribu who spoke with our correpondent on phone called on God to comfort Hauwa’s family while praying for the repose of her soul. According to her, the killing of Hauwa by Boko Haram just a few days after the visit of the Federal Government delegation has brought more trauma and disappointment for her but still hopes for the freedom of her daughter. “I feel so sad for the killing of Hauwa. Her death has brought more trauma and confusion for us because, the government people visited us just a few days assuring us of the freedom of our children then suddenly the news of the killing of Hauwa came in.

13.2m Nigerian Children Roaming the Streets, Says Falana

Human Rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Femi Falana has stated that the13.2 million children roaming around the streets across the country are potential recruits for terrorism, kidnapping and other social menace. Falana made this remarks on Wednesday while speaking as the chairman at the public presentation of a book, ‘Tolu’s October 1st Birthday’ and symposium titled ‘Indigenous Culture and the Nigerian Child’ in Lagos.

 UN Begins Road Safety Advocacy To Reduce Crashes

Dr Sydney Ibeanusi, Country Director, United Nations Decade of Action on Road Safety and Traffic Injury Prevention in Nigeria has said that the UN has started the coordination of road safety advocacy to reduce road crashes. Ibeanusi said this in an interview on Friday with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja. He said that it was collaborating with the government and relevant authorities to ensure that traffic rules and regulations were obeyed. Ibeanusi said that road users must adhere by the rules guiding the road, stating that over 70 per cent of crashes are caused by road user’s behaviour.

 Gunmen Kidnap 5 Corpers In Imo

Five members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Akwa Ibom and Rivers states were kidnap on Wednesday by unidentified gunmen on their way to  orientation camp with two other passengers. The victims were travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State capital, to Rivers and Akwa Ibom states where they were posted to undertake their three-week NYSC orientation. The kidnapped victims were coming from Ibadan and they were kidnapped on the Owerri-Port Harcourt Expressway and taken to the Umuapu forest in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

Edo Sports Commission to Revive Ogbe Hard Court, Afuze Camp

Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission, Godwin Dudu-Orumen, has indicated the intention of the commission to revive iconic sports competition and facilities which the region was known for in the past. In an interactive meeting with a group of leading Edo business men and professionals under the aegis of Edo Development Organisation, the commission plans to revive facilities like the Ogbe Hard Court and the Afuze Sports Centre which will return as a High-Performance Centre and an Olympic Training Camp. Orumen, who remarked that he was not expecting things to turn around overnight also listed other plans of the commission under his leadership.

The son of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi has left Saudi Arabia and arrived in the United States, a source close to the family told CNN. Salah bin Jamal Khashoggi, a dual US-Saudi citizen, had previously been unable to leave Saudi Arabia after his passport was restricted by the kingdom some months ago. A State Department spokesman said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged the Saudis to release the younger Khashoggi and deputy spokesman Robert Palladino said the US was “pleased” that he was allowed to leave the country.

A man whose foul-mouthed outburst onboard a budget European flight made headlines around the world has apologized, saying he is not a racist. Millions of people have now watched the online footage of David Mesher branding a 77-year-old woman an “ugly black b*****d” and shouting: “Don’t speak to me in a foreign language, you stupid ugly cow.” Mesher, who has been questioned by police over the incident on a Ryanair flight from Barcelona to London Stansted Airport on October 19, blamed the outburst on a “fit of temper.”

Plane Carrying Prince Harry And Meghan Aborts Landing In Sydney

A Qantas charter flight carrying Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was forced to suddenly abort its landing due to another aircraft on the runway, according to fellow passengers. Video taken by Simon Atkinson, the BBC’s Australia-based videojournalist, shows the view from the plane’s window as it makes its approach into Sydney Airport, before ascending once again as the runway comes into view. The pilot executed the maneuver, also known as a go-around, while low enough for the passengers to see cars driving on the roads below. Rebecca English, a journalist who was on the plane, tweeted that the pilot “had to pull up seconds from landing in Sydney” because they were “too close” to the plane on the tarmac.

New Samsung Galaxy S9, Note 9 UI Leaks, Screens Show Tasty Samsung Experience 10

When Samsung launches its Android 9 Pie update for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 smartphones next year, it will also overhaul its Samsung Experience user interface. Leaked screens show Samsung Experience 10 – taken from a beta build – which will be pushed to phones at the same time as the OS update. They come from an anonymous user, who sent them to Android Police after managing to download the beta to his or her Samsung Galaxy S9+. They show a smarter design with a completely new font throughout. As the Android-centric website points out, it looks like Google’s own Product Sans typeface and is rounder and more friendly.
