The territorial office of the Nigerian postal service in Kebbi state has appealed to the government to settle the backlog of N19.5 million owed it by the agencies in the state.
The Area Manager of NIPOST, Mr. Suwan Zaki, made the appeal in Birnin Kebbi on Monday while briefing newsmen as part of the activities to mark the World Post Day celebration. He said most of the government agencies had failed to settle the money being owed for the postal services rendered to them in the last seven years.
According to him, several reminders have been sent to the government on the issue but that no positive response to enable the agency to discharge its statutory obligations. Zaki also called on government agencies to observe use of adhesive postage stamp of N50 as stamp duty in all transactions exceeding N 1,000,stressing that it is a statutory requirement. Read more
