Sshhhh! Lemme tell you why Buhari is running again – Lucia Edafioka

So, early this week, our national grandfather, President Buhari declared he will be running for the Presidency in 2019.

My mouth was on the ground when the state house mail dropped. I read it fast twice, to be sure that I was not dreaming. How can Buhari who spent so many months abroad for health reasons, despite every other trouble his terrible leadership has brought Nigeria say he wants to run for Presidency again?

If like me, you are wondering why Buhari wants to run again I will give the breakdown.

“I declared before leaving home because Nigerians were talking too much about whether I would run or not. So, I felt I should break the ice. We have many things to focus on, like security, agriculture, economy, anti-corruption, and many others. We needed to concentrate on them, and politics should not be a distraction. The majority of Nigerians appreciate what we are doing, and that is why I am re-contesting.”

See that last sentence?

“We have cut the importation of rice by about 90%, saving billions of dollars in the process. People who rushed into petrol money have now gone back to agriculture. Even professionals have gone back to the land. Nigeria should be able to feed itself comfortably soon. I am so pleased,”

He is so pleased.

On the herdsmen killing of whole communities around the country here is what Buhari said, “The problem is even older than us. It has always been there, but now made worse by the influx of armed gunmen from the Sahel region into different parts of the West African sub-region. These gunmen were trained and armed by Muammar Gadaffi of Libya. When he was killed, the gunmen escaped with their arms. We encountered some of them fighting with Boko Haram. Herdsmen that we used to know carried only sticks and maybe a cutlass to clear the way, but these ones now carry sophisticated weapons. The problem is not religious, but sociological and economic. But we are working on solutions.”

Basically it is not his fault, let us blame Gadaffi.

The next paragraph was on the Dapchi girls and the Chibok girls. More excuses.

So that is all folks. That is all a President who contested 1 million times for the presidency has achieved, and that is why he wants to run again.

I want to say go and get your PVC let us vote them out, but that is me being overly optimistic, that is me thinking the elections will be free and fair or that Buhari will call his opponent to hand over, peacefully. We do not even have other serious contestants running for the presidency.

Well, now you know why Buhari is running again. Do not say I haven’t done anything good for you.

Have a good weekend fam.

We think you'd love these too...
