The Lagos Black Heritage Festival is a celebration of African creativity through traditional and contemporary Dance, Music, Painting and Photo Exposition, Drama, Design and Fashion Display, an International Symposium, Film and Video Fiesta and other artistic and intellectual offerings, both inter-state and international. The 5th edition of the festival kicked off at Freedom Park, Lagos Island on Saturday, April 18, 2015 with a Masquerade parade from the ancient city of Badagry at the opening ceremony.
The festival was declared open by the Lagos state Commissioner for Tourism and Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon. Disun Holloway. Also present were Mrs Francesca Emanuel (actress and singer) and Matron of the festival, actress Taiwo Ajayi Lycett, one of the Mentors in the “Mentors-Protege Programme (MPP)” and Prof. Soyinka whose play. ‘The Beautification of an Area Boy’ will premiere during the festival.
The festival runs till Saturday, April 25.
